Do you ever feel like you're not making progress toward your goals, your hopes, and your dreams? Like you just can't get to those things on your to-do list and move forward? You're not alone. So many people struggle with inertia. They allow life to get in the way of them. And if that sounds like you, here are seven things you need to quit today so you can take control and live your best life. 1. Stop trying to please everyone. It's impossible. Make a list of the people that really matter to you and ignore what everyone else thinks. 2. Stop fearing change. The status quo can feel really comfortable, and staying in that zone is okay sometimes. But now and again, you need to embrace change. Step outside of your comfort zone, stretch your mind, body, and soul, and embrace the stretch. Embrace the change and see where it takes you. 3. Stop living in the past. When my eldest son stews over the things that have really happened, I asked him, "Do you have a time machine?" "No, Daddy." "So you can't travel back in time and change the past, son?" "No, Daddy" So why would you spend any time or energy on things you cannot change? When we live in a negative past, we pollute our mind and our thoughts. Just like your body, your mind doesn't thrive when you feed it rubbish. 4. Stop overthinking. I'm guilty of this myself. I catch myself doing it; cycling over the same issue in my mind rather than making a decision and moving on. 5. Stop being afraid to be different. Refer back to point one here. When you're too busy trying to please everyone, trying to fit into this imagined reality of what you should be, it's often driven by a fear of being different. But that's what makes you beautiful. You're a unique human being; embrace that. Look deep inside and be comfortable with who you are. 6. Stop sacrificing your happiness for others. Let me tell you something. Being selfish sometimes is essential to your wellbeing. Spend time thinking about what really makes you happy: reading a book, listening to music, exercising with friends, then schedule your time in your calendar every single week, for these things. Don't sacrifice your happiness for anyone. 7. Stop thinking you're not good enough. This is a self-limiting belief. Not good enough for what? Only you can set those expectations. Only you can decide how to live your best life. Stop thinking you are not good enough because you are good enough.
